Abstract:

Due to the randomness and volatility of the wind direction, wind turbine orientation control used on the yaw system of the wind turbine, and the failure of the wind turbine led by yaw frequently. The current situation of yaw control strategy was reviewed. The execution strategy and reboot strategy were reviewed separately. It is concluded that most of the yaw execution strategy research were still implemented on simulation tools, and the wind direction prediction was more reflected in the yaw execution strategy. Few studies have been carried out on yaw reboot strategy, which is mainly to modify the threshold value of wind speed and direction. Yaw control strategy can reduce the probability of failure, increase the power of wind farms and improve the overall economic benefits.

Key words: wind turbine, yaw system, control strategy, wind direction prediction
