    Vol. 42, Issue 4, Pages: 395-403(2021) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.21043
Abstract:In order to ensure the safe and economic operation of gas turbine, it is of great significance to control the inlet pressure loss in the inlet filtration system. This paper divided the inlet pressure loss into two parts: pipeline flow loss and filter pressure loss. The function relationship between the inlet pressure loss and air velocity was established based on the mechanism analysis, and correction factors were introduced to consider the influence of external atmospheric environment and filter degradation. Then, the model was verified through the performance experiment of air filter and the collection of field data, which shows that the relationship between inlet pressure loss and the influencing factors is in good agreement with the model. Finally, by combining the thermodynamic system model of gas turbine, the influence of inlet pressure loss on gas turbine performance was analyzed. The results show that when the filter is near the service life, the negative effect of abnormal environmental factors on the output power of gas turbine is more obvious than that of the new filter.

    Vol. 42, Issue 4, Pages: 404-411(2021) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.21086
Abstract:The safe startup of micro gas turbine generator set (MGTGS) is the premise of normal operation. The whole startup process contains the motor startup, ignition, speed promotion, motor switching from self-sustaining state to generator, gas turbine acceleration to rated speed, power generation power increase and grid connection, and rated working condition. The 30kW MGTGS was taken as the research object, the startup process was studied both theoretically and experimentally. The startup path of micro gas turbine was analyzed, and the startup scheme was formulated, and then the experiment was conducted. The results show that the startup process of MGTGS can be successfully accomplished in multiple paths with the designed startup scheme. MGTGS can cross over the self-sustaining state and the electricity is generated. Meanwhile, a higher speed can lead to lower self-sustaining turbine inlet temperature (TIT). This whole work is instructive to the safe startup process of MGTGS.

    Vol. 42, Issue 4, Pages: 412-421(2021) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.21050
Abstract:In order to study the influence of humid air on the cooling performance of turbine blade and build the cooling performance prediction model of humid air turbine, the experimental platform of normal pressure turbine blade cooling was established, and the experimental study of humid air as coolant medium was carried out. Under the condition of humid air moisture content of 15-80g/kg and temperature of 200℃, the impingement cooling of blade leading edge, the U-channel cooling of fin disturbing flow and the pin-fin cooling of blade trailing edge were experimentally studied. The variation of heat transfer performance of the target wall with moisture content and temperature under different Reynolds numbers was explored. The results indicate that the heat transfer intensity of the target wall increases with the increasing coolant humid ratio, the decreasing coolant temperature and the increasing coolant Reynolds number. When using the humid air with moisture content of 180g/kg, the area-averaged Nussult number of target wall for impingement cooling, U-channel cooling and pin-fin cooling increases by 6.5%, 10.0% and 9.2% respectively, compared with the case using dry air.

Abstract:Anomaly detection of gas turbine hot components can ensure its operational safety and reliability. With the boom of artificial intelligence, data-driven fault diagnosis is becoming increasingly popular. However, in actual applications, fault data of gas turbines are rare or even unavailable. Aiming to solve the anomaly detection problem of gas turbine hot components in the case of only normal data available, this paper proposed an anomaly detection method based on the fusion of deep autoencoder and support vector data description. This method uses normal data to train deep autoencoder and then uses the reconstruction errors of deep autoencoder to train support vector data description. Experiments show that, compared with conventional anomaly detection methods, the proposed method can significantly improve the anomaly detection accuracy and realize more sensitive and robust anomaly detection of gas turbine hot components.

    Vol. 42, Issue 4, Pages: 431-436(2021) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.21019
Abstract:The ejector mixer plays a decisive role in the cooling and noise reduction of gas turbine. Compared with the traditional ejector mixer, the ejector mixer with valve plate structure has better performance. In order to fully explore its internal flow characteristics and provide a basis for optimal design, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulation was used to study the ejector configuration with or without valve plate. The ejector performance parameters such as ejector ratio, average outlet temperature, maximum temperature and average outlet velocity were compared and analyzed. The ejector performance with different valve openings was analyzed for the ejector mixer with valve plates. The results show that the mixing performance of the ejector mixer with valve plate structure is significantly improved. The ejection performance is the best when the valve opening is 45°.

    Vol. 42, Issue 4, Pages: 437-446(2021) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.21032
Abstract:Gas turbine is the important equipment used in security and economic field of the country. The aerodynamic performance of exhaust diffuser has an important influence on the thermodynamic efficiency of gas turbine. The flow interaction between the exhaust diffuser and the upstream turbine and the complex geometrical configurations leads to the strong vortex pattern and high flow losses in the diffuser which reduces the performance of the upstream turbine and exhaust diffuser. In order to investigate the flow characteristics of diffusers and the coupling mechanism between the diffuser and the turbine, the research status of aerodynamic performance and optimal design of diffusers at home and abroad was reviewed. The prospect of research on the design and optimization of the diffuser was discussed. The interaction between the turbine and the diffuser should be fully considered in future research. Parameterization and other methods were introduced into the optimal design of the diffuser to improve the working efficiency.

Abstract:In order to explore the dynamic characteristics of the circumferential rod fastening rotor-bearing system, a numerical model of three-dimensional Gaussian random rough surface was established by using the method of autocorrelation function. Moreover, the geometric model of rough surface was generated by Ansys APDL. Abaqus software was used to simulate the contact of rough surface, and the contact stiffness of rough surface under different preloads was obtained. The finite element model of the circumferential rod fastening rotor-bearing system of a certain type of gas turbine considering the contact stiffness was also established. The dynamic characteristics of the system with different preloads and clearances of bearing assembly were calculated. It is shown that critical speed of rotor-bearing system increases nonlinearly with the increase of preload, and the amplitude of unbalance response increases with the increase of preload and clearance of bearing assembly as the rotor has passed the critical speed.

Abstract:For a 600 MW wet-cooled unit of a power plant in Hebei province, ANSYS Fluent software was used to numerically simulate the flow field of the steam turbine exhaust passage. It was found that under the original design, due to the axial exhaust steam of the exhaust cylinder and the diffusion angle of the condenser neck, a large low-speed vortex area appeared in the exhaust steam passage, which had a negative effect on the heat transfer performance of the condenser. The exhaust steam of the feed water pump steam turbine had a certain supplementary effect on the low-speed vortex area and could improve the flow field to a certain extent. Aiming at this phenomenon, the exhaust passage flow field was optimized through the design of diversion structures. The results show that after optimizing the flow field, the crew exhaust steam condensed in the main area of the upper tube bundle planar velocity uniformity has been significantly increased, which is benefit to improve the condenser heat transfer coefficient, reduce the unit back pressure, and promote the efficiency of generating units.

  • Study on Water Erosion in Deep Peak Shaving of Steam Turbine

Yunfeng LIU, Yufeng LI, Jian WANG, Yiliang MA, Chun GUAN
    Vol. 42, Issue 4, Pages: 473-479(2021) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.21012
Abstract:In order to improve the life of the unit, and study the water erosion of the last stage moving blade caused by the deep peak shaving of steam turbine, this paper established a method to measure the water erosion of blade based on relative volumetric flow. The calculation analysis with operating experiences of the unit was employed. The influence of back pressure and load on water erosion comprehensively was taken into account. The results show that, with the decrease of relative volumetric flow rate, the water erosion part of the rotor blade is transferred from the top steam inlet side with lower stress to the root steam outlet side with higher stress. It results in the increase of risk. With the decrease of relative volume flow, the water erosion rate of moving blade shows three stages: first increasing, then decreasing, and rising finally. The turning point between stages corresponds to a balanced state.

  • Optimal Design of Steam Turbine System for Advanced Ultra-supercritical Double Reheat Coal-fired Units

Jing WANG, Jinfu YANG, Liqiang DUAN, Liguo TIAN, Yutian JING, Ming YANG
    Vol. 42, Issue 4, Pages: 480-488(2021) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.21053
Abstract:In view of the current situation of backpressure extraction steam turbine (BEST) regenerative system design for advanced ultra-supercritical coal-fired units, the influence of BEST on energy consumption of 700℃ coal-fired units with single and double reheat system was compared and analyzed. Based on parameter matching and system optimization method of steam turbine flow and regenerative system, the idea of optimizing regenerative system from the system perspective was put forward. The results show that the coal consumption of 700℃ double reheat coal-fired units with BEST is lower than that of single reheat units, and the coal saving advantage is more obvious at low load. The coal saving is 11.7g/(kW·h) at 40% load. 700℃ double reheat units with BEST is more economical for peak adjustment than single reheat units, and 700℃ single reheat units with BEST is more suitable for high load operation units. With the reduction of load, the extraction superheat of 700℃ double reheat units with BEST increases continuously, therefore, the extraction position of BEST can be adjusted backward to match the minimum coal consumption. In addition, a method of matching the extraction parameters of the regenerative system with the flow parameters of the steam turbine was proposed to optimize the whole system of the units. Based on this method, the BEST can be cancelled, but the load distribution and flow design of the three cylinders of the steam turbine need to be redesigned.

  • Flutter Prediction Method for Long Blade of Steam Turbine

    Vol. 42, Issue 4, Pages: 500-508(2021) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.21001
Abstract:A three-dimensional fluid-solid coupling calculation model of long blade of steam turbine was established based on the aerodynamic and structural vibration simulation platform. Taking the second last stage blade of a foreign 60Hz steam turbine unit as an example, the aerodynamic characteristics of the flow field in the single flow channel and the vibration characteristics of the entire blade structure field were analyzed. Combined with the energy method criterion, a method for predicting and evaluating the flutter of the steam turbine long blade was further proposed. The results show that the unit flow rate and the vibration form of blade pitch diameter have a great influence on the blade flutter characteristics. For the current 2nd last stage blade, the probability of blade flutter induced by pressure fluctuation in the flow field is between 80% and 90% under 40% flow condition. Therefore, this kind of blade should be carefully used under the low flow condition. Based on the unidirectional liquid-solid coupling method, the periodic work under fluctuating pressure in flow field can be analyzed effectively and relatively quickly, and the aerodynamic damping coefficient under modal vibration of blade can be obtained. Thus, the flutter characteristics of blade can be predicted.

Abstract:The superheat degree of steam extraction is high in the ultra-supercritical single reheat unit. It results in largely irreversible loss and poor system perfection. The thermodynamic performance of the MAST CYCLE thermodynamic system was analyzed, which can effectively reduce the superheat of regenerative extraction steam. However, the system is relatively complex. The optimization system of single reheat with 4-stage external coolers is the best scheme of system integration, and the power supply efficiency reaches 49.58%. The waste heat of the system was used. The calculation results show that the power supply efficiency of the system reaches 50.07%, which provides a more effective way for the optimization design of 700℃ ultra-supercritical unit system.

  • Design of Calcium-based Carbon Capture System for Gas-Steam Combined Cycle Assisted by Solar Thermal Tower

Lanhua LIU, Ruilin WANG, Hui HONG
    Vol. 42, Issue 4, Pages: 517-524(2021) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.21081
Abstract:Fossil energy power stations are the largest centralized source of CO2 emission, and the carbon emission reduction of fossil energy power stations such as coal and gas is the essential way to achieve carbon neutralization. Compared with other technologies, carbon capture based on the alkali metal has the advantages of high capture efficiency and low reaction energy consumption, but its high regeneration energy consumption will greatly affect the performance of coal-fired power stations. In this paper, a system of gas-steam combined cycle with flue gas carbon capture assisted by solar thermal tower was proposed. Taking a 467MW gas steam combined cycle power plant as the prototype, the system design and performance analysis were carried out. Compared with the original system, the power generation of the designed system was increased by 42.43MW, and the power generation efficiency reached 63%. Compared with the reference system relying on fossil energy to capture carbon dioxide, the designed power generation capacity of the system was increased by 148.5MW, and the power generation efficiency was increased by about 18 percent points. The vernal equinox day was selected as a typical day to analyze the off-design condition of the system. The results show that the system can operate at rated condition for more than six hours a day, the cumulative carbon capture capacity is 1452t, and the cumulative additional power generation is 381MW·h. The proposed system used solar energy to capture carbon dioxide without reducing the power generation efficiency of the power station itself, and realized the zero-carbon emission utilization of fossil energy. In addition, the high-temperature heat released by the calcium-based carbon capture and carbonation process was reused to the gas-steam combined cycle system for power generation to further improve the system performance. The research results can provide new ideas and methods for the multi-energy complementary and comprehensive utilization of renewable energy and fossil energy.
