Abstract:

The generator leading phase operation is an operation mode in which the generator adjusts the excitation to make the generator under-excited and maintains reactive power from the system while maintaining the normal active output. The leading phase depth is generally affected by the static stability limit of the generator, the stator end member heating and other factors. Based on the analysis of generator leading phase operation characteristics, power angle change and leading phase operation limit factors, a 600MW generator in a thermal power plant was taken as an example to analyse and record the electrical angle of the generator, stator voltage, factory voltage, the real-time data and changes of the temperature rise of the generator end in the leading phase test. The leading phase running depth of the generator and its limiting factors was verified, and the regulation performance and stability of the automatic excitation regulator in the leading phase operation was tested. It provided data support for the follow-up leading phase operation of the generator set. The proposed improvement strategy can effectively improve the leading phase operation capacity of the generator set.
