  • Thermodynamic Analysis for a Novel Combined Power and Refrigeration Cycle Using Trans-Critical CO2

Wenkai XIA, Yichao GAO, Yaowu HUO, Yiping DAI
    Vol. 39, Issue 4, Pages: 328-335(2018) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.2018.050
Abstract:A novel combined power and refrigeration system coupled with a trans-critical carbon dioxide (TCO2) recompression cycle and an ejector refrigeration cycle is proposed, which produces power output and refrigeration by utilizing low-grade thermal energy discharged from the CO2 recompression cycle. The performance of combined cycle was compared with that of recompression cycle, and an exergy and parametric analysis was performed to evaluate the effect of key thermodynamic parameters on the performance of the combined cycle. The results show that because of the utilizing of waste heat from CO2 which drives the ejector to generate cooling capacity, thermal efficiency of the combined cycle is higher than that of the recompression cycle. The biggest exergy loss occurs in the heater and the heat regenerator came second. It is also shown that the turbine inlet pressure, inlet temperature and back pressure have significant effect on the mass flow rate, turbine power output, power consumption of compressor, refrigeration output and thermal efficiency of the combined cycle. However, the condenser temperature and the evaporator temperature only have remarkable influences on the refrigeration output of the ejector refrigeration cycle. The thermal and exergy efficiency of the combined cycle are severally 46.99% and 47.21% under the given condition.

Abstract:The characteristics of entrainment by jet flow in the spray semi-dry flue gas desulphurization tower have an important influence on the mixing of the flue gas and the absorbent in the tower and the uniform distribution of the flow field. In this paper, the characteristics of entrainment by jet flow of the two-fluid atomizing nozzle are analyzed by numerical simulation method, and the jet flow field distribution in the spray semi-dry flue gas desulfurization tower is obtained. The results show that the jet flow field distribution of the two-fluid atomizing nozzle presents small on both sides of the middle and reflux occurs on both sides of the tower wall; the jet flow fluid exchanges momentum with the surrounding gas and have an obviously entrainment to the surrounding gas. The jet entrainment volume increases gradually along the jet axis direction and with the increase of the amount of wind, the entrainment volume of the jet also gradually increases.

  • Evaporation Characteristics of Atomized Droplets Sprayed in Flue Gas Flow

Shuqin FENG, Xiaoze DU, Lijun YANG, Xinming XI
    Vol. 39, Issue 4, Pages: 343-353(2018) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.2018.052
Abstract:Spraying flue gas desulfurization (FGD) wastewater into flue duct is an economical and feasible technology to achieve zero discharge in power plant. To deal with the scale and corrosion on flue walls that exist in the practical application of this technology, the physical and mathematical models are established based on a 300 MW power plant. The Eulerian-Lagrangian approach is used to describe the thermo-fluid behavior of FGD wastewater in flue gas, by which the turbulent flow heat transfer of flue gas is described by the Eulerian framework and the evaporation of water droplets is described using the Lagrangian framework. By numerical simulation the flow evaporation characteristics and influencing factors of FGD wastewater droplets sprayed in flue gas were studied. The diffusion range and trajectories of atomized droplets under different operating conditions were obtained. The following results were gained:higher flue gas temperature and smaller diameter of the atomized droplets contribute to shorter time and distance for complete evaporation. Besides, the arrangement of small-flow-multi nozzles can improve the evaporation of atomized droplets. The spray direction must ensure that the relative movement between atomized droplets and flue gas is enhanced, while the droplets can fully diffuse and contact with the flue gas within a specified distance and time, achieving maximum evaporation of the atomized droplets. However, the initial velocity of atomized droplets, the spray full cone angle of nozzles, and the velocity of flue gas have little influence on atomized droplets evaporation. These research results can provide process design and performance regulation of the FGD wastewater evaporation in flue duct of thermal power plants.

Abstract:In order to expand the heat supply capacity of 600MW supercritical condensing turbine-generator unit and meet the requirements of combined heat and power production, several technical measures to improve the external heat supply capacity of the unit have been studied. A new pattern on heat supply retrofit was put forward, which is to stop #1 & #2 HP heater, and extract the original #1 & #2 section steam from cold reheater to increase the quantity of external heating supply. The influences on selective catalytic reduction (SCR), the safety of the last stage blades of the steam turbine, the axial thrust of the steam turbine and the economy were analyzed. It is proved that the method is feasible, worthy for reference when the condensing turbine-generator unit implements large flow low pressure heat supply retrofit.

  • Analysis on the Change of Steam Turbine Back Pressure Under Operation of Low Pressure Economizer

Chuanling LIU, Minghui LIU, Zhenjiang CHEN, Ang SONG
    Vol. 39, Issue 4, Pages: 378-381(2018) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.2018.057
Abstract:After low pressure economizer was put into the unit, waste heat of boiler flue gas enters the regenerative system. The extraction steam returns to low pressure cylinder, and the steam volume increases, which causes the change of the back pressure of the steam turbine. According to the equivalent enthalpy drop theory, the calculation model of back pressure change was established. The model is verified through the test and analysis of one 220MW unit. Under 220MW working condition, the steam turbine back pressure is increased by 0.29 kPa. After the correction of the back pressure, the energy saving of "equivalent enthalpy drop method" decreases by 0.19%, which is closer to the energy saving of the "thermal test method". It shows that in the energy saving effect analysis of operating low-cost economizer with the "equivalent enthalpy drop method", the impact of back pressure changes on energy savings need to be considered.

  • Operation Optimization of Microbial Control of Seawater Desalination

Jun LIU, Yongqiang CHEN, Jingjian SUN
    Vol. 39, Issue 4, Pages: 386-388(2018) DOI: 10.12096/j.2096-4528.pgt.2018.059
Abstract:Microbial pollution is one of the main types of reverse osmosis membrane pollution in seawater desalination system. In the spring of 2016, frequent and rapid increasing of pressure difference, constant desalting rate and decreased water yield happened in the first-order reverse osmosis membrane of the seawater desalination system in Hongyanhe nuclear power plant. After dissection analysis of reverse osmosis membrane, the main reason was microbial contamination. The microbial growth caused by incomplete sterilization lead to an increasing of pressure difference and decreasing of water yield. By increasing the amount of sodium hypochlorite added to the pretreatment fungicide of seawater, the amount of residual chlorine at the outlet of the ultrafiltration water tank was increased in order to decrease the breeding of microorganisms in the sea water. And in different seasons, different concentrations of dosage would be controlled. It is verified that this measure can control the inlet microorganism of the reverse osmosis system at a low level, reduce the increasing frequency of pressure difference, and improve the operation reliability of the equipment of the sea water desalination system of Hongyanhe nuclear power plant.
