Fault Ride-Through Control Strategy of Virtual Synchronous Generator Based on Joint Control of Power Loop and Current Loop
- “The virtual synchronous generator may experience power angle instability and fault overcurrent when the grid voltage drops. The research team of North China Electric Power University proposed a fault ride through control strategy based on the joint control of power loop and current loop. By adjusting the active power command value to stabilize the transient power angle, freezing the reactive power loop, and adding virtual resistors to suppress the fault current, an improved reactive current control is adopted to provide reactive power support during the fault period and suppress reactive power oscillation during the recovery period. This strategy effectively solves the problems of VSG fault overcurrent and reactive power exceeding the limit. Simulation verification shows that the transient surge current is effectively suppressed and the steady-state fault current is within the safe threshold, providing a guarantee for safe operation of the grid during the fault period and grid connected operation after fault recovery.”
